i sing: Kanye West - Heard 'em Say
Three of my home friends and I are organizing a cabaret which we hope to put on in August. We'll be performing a lot of Rent and Wicked as well as a few misc. Irving Berlin songs and selections from musicals. I'm excited. Another reason to look forward to summer!

You know when you feel like you're butting in on a friendship, even when it's not apparent to them? Like, at the formal tonight, two of my friends were dancing (they're roommates) and they're both ex-dance team members, and so naturally they bond when it comes to busting a move and whatnot. I'd be dancing, and in our little triangle those two would be facing each other, and suddenly I'd lose my appetite for dancing and just stand there feeling funny, as if I were intruding. I sat down and prayed they wouldn't spot me, because I didn't want them to trouble themselves for my sake. I wanted them to have a good time... but sometimes I feel like my best friend is drifting away.

I feel so lonely sometimes. I don't know if this is the right school for me!

But this sort of thing happens to all freshmen, I'm told.

I miss Hannah.

Awww. Alex is so cute. He called me during choir today and left a message and was just his classic self... and now he's giving a tour. He's going to be an RA next year.

Has anyone seen the cartoon movie The Swan Princess? I loved that movie when I was younger. With Odette, the swan, and her hottie Derek... Far longer than forever...

Leave your name in the comments.

1. I'll respond with something random I like about you.
2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I'll name something we should do together.
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me (or just me).
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
6. I'll leave you a quote that is somehow appropriate to you.
7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.

This song defines me:
Maybe I'm a girl
Maybe I'm a lonely girl in the middle of something
That she doesn't really understand

Maybe I'm a girl
And maybe you're the only man who could ever help me
Won't you help me understand

For everyone who's read this book:

My best girl, Hannah, has found a new boy while her jerk of an ex/half-boyfriend is unknowingly being put on hold. Good for her. I'm so happy for her! - She's needed this so badly.

My turn! Right?

Anyway, her ex has been more trouble that he's worth for her, even since the beginning. I can't wait to see her this weekend; we'll be having snuggle parties every night and hopefully tanning (with tanning oil, of course) at parks and whatnot. I love her to death.

Meanwhile, Shannon is walking with College Sweetheart right now doing God Knows What... but it's nothing too gooshy, because High School Sweetheart has been in the lead lately.

I found one of those big curved couches today, posted on a board in one of the buildings - for $75!! A guy owns it, though, so we'll see what sort of condition it's in tomorrow. What do you all think, by the way, is the best place to get furniture for a house, when you're a college student on a tight budget? Ikea? HOM Furniture also has a cool collection called "Klik-Klak" (yes, from the annoying commercials!) that can change into a bed or back to a couch or whatever. I want.

I also started a list (what is it with girls and making lists for absolutely everything?) of things I'll personally need to bring for the house next year, as well as things that all of us need to chip in for. SO EXCITED. You guys, I can't even tell you how cute the house is.

I stink from working out. Shower time.

*LOVE!!* Muah. Good night, all! Read you tomorrow. ;)

P.S. I've just started "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" by the same guy that wrote "Everything Is Illuminated". It's really charming! It sort of reminds me of "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time." But has anyone else read "Extremely"?

German versus The World

Posted on 2006.04.10 at 15:24
i feel: accomplished
i sing: Dave Matthews Band - Stand Up
I'm feeling a lot better. Drinking Naked helped, I think. And the fact that I'm getting along much better with my roommates... and that Alex didn't call. I may get happy when he does, but I just feel like shit later after I've gotten my hopes up. AND IT'S 75 OUTSIDE IN MINNESOTA! Imagine that!

I totally owned my French test on conditionelle: 95%! I'm especially surprised, as I tested into the level and entered the class without previously knowing imparfait or plusqueparfait or futur - so I'm feeling quite smug right now. It seems so much harder than German - everything makes more sense in German. I mean, German pretty much owns the English language.

A lesson in German. )

I want to be a German teacher. Eff French. But boy, do I love languages.

Out of curiousity, what languages do all of you study?

P.S. I really don't think Imogen's "A Pensieve Affair" has gotten nearly enough attention as it should be. It's SO GOOD and quite addicting! I haven't followed the whole plot of her AU, but you don't need to. It's easy to catch on to everything.

Just a quick summary: Harry and Ginny's daughter, Hope, has a friend of hers, Matthew, over for the night as she babysits her sister. They haven't spoken in a few months after a pretty heavy incident at Christmas, and, while mending their friendship, they pull out a game Uncle Fred and Uncle George gave Hope for Christmas.

Trust me. It's gooooood.
